Methodology

How banger.today reads crypto market structure.

Surface-level reference. The full methodology canon is reserved for paid-tier.

1. The four structural axes

banger.today reduces the market to four daily readings. Each axis moves independently.

Concentration. How much of today’s market movement traces back to a single dominant factor, usually BTC.

Voices. How many separate themes the market is telling at once. One voice means one driver. Three or four means rotation.

Health. Whether the background structure looks calm or stressed. Stress flags that the market is operating away from its calm baseline.

Stability. How anchored the current structural state is. Higher stability means today’s reading is likely to persist.

2. Regime: the human-readable label

The four axes combine into one of three plain-language labels:

BTC Season. Concentration is high. Most tokens follow BTC.

Sideways. Concentration is moderate. The market is between regimes.

Alt Season. Concentration is low. Capital is rotating into non-BTC assets.

The regime is a classification of the present, not a forecast.

3. Today’s signal

banger applies a structural reading to an actively traded subset of the crypto market each day. The reading describes the shape of the market, not its direction.

4. Multi-cadence

Intraday and daily readings are tracked in parallel. When they agree, the structural state is robust. When they diverge, the market is in transition. Cross-cadence agreement is itself a signal.

5. Cycle context: where we are in the BTC halving cycle

Every reading carries the day’s position in the BTC halving cycle:

Accumulation. Early in the cycle, after a long bear market.

Bull approach. Mid-cycle. BTC leads the market upward.

Post-peak. After the cycle peak. Concentration relaxes; independent themes return.

Late cycle. Heading into the next halving. Transitions become more frequent.

The cycle position is a calendar overlay, not a prediction. It places today’s reading next to past readings at the same relative position.

6. How readings evolve

A single reading is one snapshot. The interesting signal is how it changes:

Persistence. How long the current regime has held.

Drift. Movement of concentration toward or away from a regime boundary. Drift often precedes transitions.

Recovery. When health enters stress, how long it takes to settle back.

Cross-cadence agreement. Whether the intraday and daily readings are pointing the same way.

7. Index families

banger.today applies the same structural reading to multiple token universes. Named index tiers are in development. Full methodology specifications are published as part of the paid-tier methodology canon.

8. The daily archive

Every reading is preserved at banger.today/daily. Each entry carries the date, regime, and cycle context. The archive is append-only: past entries are not re-edited.

The append-only design has one purpose. Any structural claim banger.today makes is falsifiable. If a regime call from three months ago was the wrong frame, the entry from that day is still there to read.

9. What this is not

  • not price prediction
  • not a trading signal service
  • not on-chain analytics
  • not social sentiment aggregation
  • not a leveraged-product recommendation
  • not financial advice

banger.today is structural measurement. The output is information about the shape of the market today.

10. Sources

Data is sourced from a major public crypto aggregator. Each entry in the daily archive is timestamped and immutable. The full archive at banger.today/daily serves as the falsifiability reference for any structural claim.

Updated weekly. Daily readings update at banger.today/daily.

claims stand until refuted, never secured.
